What Messages You Will Receive

When SMS-based two-factor authentication is enabled, you will receive SMS text messages containing a one-time verification code in the following situations only:

Account Login — A 6-digit code sent each time you sign in to verify your identity.
Phone Number Verification — A 6-digit code sent when you first add or update your phone number.
Security Changes — A 6-digit code sent when disabling 2FA to confirm the change.

Verification codes expire after 5 minutes and can only be used once. BuilderOS will never send marketing, promotional, or advertising SMS text messages.

How You Opt In

SMS text messaging is entirely optional and user-initiated. To opt in:

Log in to your BuilderOS account.
Navigate to Profile > Security Settings > Two-Factor Authentication.
Enter your mobile phone number.
Check the SMS consent checkbox agreeing to receive SMS text messages for verification codes.
Click Verify to receive a verification code via SMS text message.
Enter the code to complete setup.

You must actively provide your phone number, agree to SMS consent, and complete verification before any SMS text messages are sent.

How to Opt Out

You can stop receiving SMS text messages at any time by:

Replying STOP to any SMS text message received from BuilderOS.
Disabling SMS-based 2FA in your Security Settings.
Switching your 2FA method to Email instead of SMS.
Removing your phone number from your profile.

After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS text messages. You can still use email-based 2FA for account security. Text HELP for assistance at any time.

Message Frequency & Rates

Frequency: SMS text messages are sent only when you initiate a login or security action. Typical usage is 1–3 messages per day, depending on how often you sign in.
Rates: Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. BuilderOS does not charge for sending these messages.

Privacy & Data Protection

Your phone number is stored securely and is used exclusively for two-factor authentication. BuilderOS does not share, sell, or distribute your phone number to any third parties. Our SMS service is provided through Twilio, which processes messages in compliance with industry security standards.
